Start with the dates, not the box size
Write down your last day in the old home, the earliest confirmed access to the next one and any uncertainty between them. Add the time needed for cleaning, key handover and assembling furniture. A three-day gap can still cross a supplier’s minimum billing period. Ask what happens if the new tenancy starts late or you need your belongings back earlier than expected.
Compare an overlap with temporary storage
If an overlap is available, compare its full extra rent and utilities with storage rent, two transport legs, packing and any handling charges. An overlap may let you move directly and unpack gradually. Storage can be more practical when the destination or timing is uncertain. A spare room offered by a friend is another option only when permission, access, responsibility and the space available are agreed.
Make three separate inventories
Put belongings into three groups: take with you, store, and sell or donate before moving. Keep documents, keys, necessary medicines, chargers and clothes for the gap with you rather than behind boxes in storage. Mark anything you expect to retrieve during the gap. Those items may affect which service and access arrangement you choose, not just how much space you need.
Budget for the whole journey
Build a written estimate covering storage, delivery to the old address, collection, return delivery, loading help, packing materials and any tax or deposit shown in the quote. Check whether stairs, restricted parking, an extra stop or a changed appointment affects the charge. Compare totals for the same dates and addresses. Treat a headline monthly rate as one part of the estimate rather than the complete moving cost.
Choose access that fits your actual plans
A unit you can visit may help if you need to retrieve a desk or suitcase before the final move. A collected storage box may be convenient when you can leave the load packed until delivery to the next home. Ask how partial retrieval works, whether it costs extra and how much notice is needed. Facility access and the right to arrange return transport are different questions.
Get the return plan in writing
Before the first collection, agree how to request your belongings back, the notice needed and what changes if the destination address is not yet known. Check the cancellation and minimum-term rules, the treatment of unused prepaid time and any renewal arrangement. Keep the quote and the inventory together. Avoid relying on an informal promise that all future changes will be free.
For a move in EasyStore’s Thailand service area
EasyStore is a group brand listed for this need. Check the regional coverage in its profile and ask it to confirm both addresses and dates. Use the actual quote and written terms to compare the two transport legs and storage period. If either address is outside the listed region, do not assume the same service or charge applies.
Your next step
Record the two dates, the items you need during the gap and your complete cost estimate. Then request comparable written offers. Read the linked guides on packing furniture and storage access before booking. A clear return plan is useful even for a short stay; the move is only complete when your belongings reach the next home.
